In 2000, I took my infant and toddler sons to Washington DC for the Million Mom March. Sadly, nothing has changed in 18 years. In fact, it’s gotten worse. We are failing our children…terribly.

My sons are now 18 and 20, and I pray their generation will right this ship that is so far off course. I will never understand how assault weapons and large-volume magazines/clips are legal. I don’t want to take your guns away, only the ones that were specifically designed to annihilate people.

I want common sense gun laws. You need a license and insurance to drive a car. Why is asking for licenses, training, background checks and insurance to carry a gun, asking for too much? Your right to carry a gun should not supersede another person’s right to life. I won’t even get into to the health crisis guns create in this country.

I’m tired. I’m tired of polarization and the lack of common sense in our politics. I’m tired of money buying our representatives. The majority of American citizens support common sense gun laws. How many children must die before we take action? David Hogg gets it. Our children get it, because they are living it. When will the adults in the room step forward and listen to them?
