We all have those days. The ones where no matter what you do, you can’t seem to get things right. Right with yourself. Right in your soul. Perhaps you totally screwed things up. Perhaps you let someone else down, or even worse you let yourself down. Maybe the world is telling you that you don’t fit in, or there’s something wrong with you. Everybody experiences moments of self-doubt or struggling to love themselves or others. But the reality is, it begins with you.
If you don’t love yourself, you can’t love others well. If you can’t be your own cheerleader, it makes it harder to cheer for others. I was reminded of this in my morning meditation reading…Melody Beattie’s Journey to the Heart. It fell open to the page on loving yourself until you do. It felt like the message I needed to hear today. On this MLK day in honor of a man who spoke about love and acceptance of all of who you are. Of the beauty of each human being’s content and character, may we love ourselves and others just a little bit more…until we do…and may we see the day it becomes as easy as breathing. Peace and blessings, beautiful ones.
